In addition to the awards given by AP-LS, students and professionals are recognized for their outstanding contributions in research and/or education through the following links, or the specific awards described below.

 

For Undergraduate Students

Psi Chi Society Convention Research Awards
All Psi Chi members (undergraduate and graduate) are eligible to submit their research for the Society Convention Research Awards. Cash awards of $300 for undergraduates and $500 for graduates are presented to students submitting the best research for Psi Chi sessions at the APA and APS national conventions. Up to 16 awards are given: 8 for the APA Convention and 8 for the APS Convention. Award monies are distributed at the conventions following the presentations.

For Graduate Students

APA Early Graduate Student Researcher Awards
Annual competition sponsored by the APA Science Student Council for early (i.e., pre-doctoral) research. The purpose of the program is to reward an outstanding student research project completed before the dissertation. Each year three $1,000 awards will be granted.

APS Student Research Award
The Student Research Award promotes and acknowledges outstanding research conducted by student members of APS.

Psi Chi | APS Albert Bandura Graduate Research Award
The Psi Chi | APS Albert Bandura Graduate Research Award honors Albert Bandura with a competition for the best research by a graduate student in empirical psychology.

For Early Career Professionals

Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology
Recognizes excellent psychologists who are at early stages of their research careers.

Sage Young Scholars Award
$5000 award that recognizes outstanding young researchers in personality and social psychology. Candidates must be junior faculty (untenured) and between 3 and 7 years into their first independent academic position by October of the year in which they are nominated. Candidates should have demonstrated exceptional individual achievements in social and/or personality psychology (broadly defined), conducting research that places them at the forefront of their peers. Criteria include innovation, creativity, and potential to make a significant impact on the field.

SPSSI Louise Kidder Early Career Award
$500 and a plaque award recognizes social issue researchers who have made substantial contributions to the field within five year of receiving a graduate degree.

SPSSI Michele Alexander Early Career Award
For scholarship (defined in terms of substantive academic contributions to the study of social issues) and service (defined as professional and/or community service). Eligibility limited to SPSSI member who has received their Ph.D. within five years of the time of application.

For Faculty

Carol and Ed Diener Awards
From the Foundation for Personality and Social Psychology, two annual awards for outstanding contributions to the fields of personality and social psychology for scientists in their mid-career. One award will be made in personality psychology, the other in social psychology.

Robert B. Cialdini Award
From the Foundation for Personality and Social Psychology, an annual award for a published paper that employs primarily field research methods and contexts.
